(San Antonio, TX) — Responding to the interim State House District map released by the three-judge panel today, Tina Torres, candidate in House District 117, called the Federal Courts’ map “fair,” and “a step in the right direction.”
“I applaud the court’s interim plan for the 2012 elections. This map gives Hispanic voters the chance to vote for the candidate of their choice rather than having their voices minimized. The map passed by the Republican super-majority denied minorities their right of equal representation, and reduced minority opportunity. I’m looking forward to running in what we now know to be District 117.”
